| Be Comfortable-The design of the Moby Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the wight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders. It is amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners. It is easy to adjust the fit of your Moby Wrap by varying how tightly you wrap yourself and your baby. Be Secure-The Moby Wrap comes with an easy to follow instructional guide. With the single stretch cotton and the width of the Moby Wrap, your baby is wrapped close and tight, insuring a secure hold. Your baby's head can also be secured under the stretchy cotton fabric for added safety. Be Uniquely Close to Your Baby-There is not a lot of extra material or bulky padding between you and your baby. Your baby can hear your heartbeat and finds comfort in the warmth of your body, along with the cuddly confines of the Moby Wrap. Preemie to 35 lbs.-The Moby Wrap is long enough to adapt to your growing baby. The fabric measures 5.5 meters in length and can hold up to 45 lbs, and most people feel comfortable carrying up to 35 lbs. Versatile-There are many ways to wear your Moby Wrap. You can wear baby facing you, facing the world, sideways, or on your back. When not being used as a carrier, the Moby can be used as a blanket, pillow, or anything else that comes to mind. The Turquoise Moby Wrap is treated with the Rayosan Process for extra UV protection! |

A Must Have for Active Moms!

I LOVE my Moby wrap! My daughter is 6 weeks old and she loves it as well. She cries whenever she is put down and will only fall asleep while being held. My husband & I disagree with the "cry it out" philosophy, so the Moby Wrap allows our daughter's needs to be met while we still have two free hands. There are several ways to tie the wrap ([...] has instructions) and, unlike some carriers, it will grow with the baby.
Winter has come early in NY, yet I can still take her out for walks or shopping. If we're heading out in the car, I put the wrap on at home (don't want the long ends dragging on the ground as I try to put it on in a parking lot). When we arrive at our destination, in the warmth of the car, I slip her into the Moby wrap, pull the fabric up over her, and wrap my coat around her. She is protected from the cold as well as germs from those who want to stroke her cute little cheeks and hands!
Although I feel like I couldn't live without my Moby Wrap, there are a few drawbacks:
1) The fabric is a thick cotton -- great for keeping mom & baby warm in cooler temps, but seems too thick for summer. At home, I keep our thermostat lower when I'm wearing my daughter because it generates quite a bit of heat.
2) As with any baby carrier, it can be difficult to maintain good posture while wearing your baby. In someone prone to back pain, this may not be the best option.
That said, I feel the Moby Wrap is a must have for active moms! It's a great way to bond with your baby, maintain a sense of freedom (& sanity!:), and help a fussy baby be content. |
comfortable, easy to use

Review:
It was easy to use. The video from the website helped the most, but the instructions were easy to use. It' looks really complicated, but after doing it once in front of the instructions and once without the instructions, I never looked at them again.
It was comfortable. With miles of walking around all day, my back didn't hurt. The only time I had to readjust and tighten is after the 6th hour of carrying him through the zoo and museum, but I did so easily.
Also notable: If baby leaks, you get wet. It's really hard to use a public rest room alone. If you drink or eat, baby can reach it. The baby stays really warm against you and under your coat if needed. This may not be a good thing in the summer, but it was great in the winter.
As a heavy set child-rearing grandmother, I was worried about my 41-year old back while carrying around a 25lb 7-month old. We were going to NYC with a 19-month old and a 7-month old. Dbl strollers don't mix with the subway system so I bought an umbrella stroller and this Moby wrap. It worked through the miles of walking and kept him warm against me in the cold. We went through museums, zoos, shopping, subways, restaurants, etc. I wish I would have bought this a LOT sooner.

Pros:
-can securely fasten baby to body in a number of different ways
-adjustable for different shapes and sizes of both the wearer and the baby
-take baby anywhere easily
-comfortable for the wearer
-durable material (so far)
-doesn't seem to stain
-baby will be kept warm by your body heat
Cons:
-anything that comes out of the baby will probably end up on you, which is okay if you're at home, not so okay if you're out in public and just got pooped on with no spare clothes for you
-baby will be kept warm by your body heat, and you'll be kept warm by theirs - something to think about for warmer weather
Bottom line: I love it, and am really glad I bought it. It might take you a minute to get the hang of fitting - don't give up. After a few tries we found a few methods that work great. Have yet to use it for shopping as we don't live in an overly urban area, I have a removable carseat, and she's often sleeping by the time we get to the store so I hate to move her. She, at a month and a half, already wanted to face out and see the whole world, and it definitely keeps her happy. Just be cautious - they are now closer to everything you handle. I hear it's great for premies. I also hear you can breastfeed in it. Haven't tried that yet, either. |
I LOVE this wrap!

I now have three boys, when my second one was young, we were introduced to the concept of baby wearing, I wished I had known about it sooner, he is a special needs child and would have really benefited from babywearing right from the start. I used to use a non adjustable sling (new native style) it was good for the hip hold and it worked for the time, but, my shoulders and back were always sore. But, for the sake of my munchkin and because I believed in babywearing I soldiered on. Now my third one is three weeks old. I had tried a sling again and it just wasn't working. He didn't like it much because he couldn't be upright and looking around (he loves to see what's going on) and again, it was already making my shoulder and back sore even though he's only 10 lbs.
So I went online to look for more options and ran into the moby wraps. I have only had this wrap for a week, but have used it for several hours every day. There are several different positions that can be used, it is incredibly versitile, if your child doesn't like one position, don't worry, there's pleanty more to try. It also comes with a handy little carrying case so when you're done with your wrap, you can roll it up and put it in the carry case, it rolls down very compactly. Very easy to carry around even when not in use. Best of all, it's SO comfortable! No pain, soreness, or stiffness when wearing or when I'm done, it distributes the weight so well!
My son naps when I'm in with him, and a little on his own, but is more likely to wake up often. With this wrap, he naps wherever I am while I'm able to have both hands free to do things with my older boys and around the house. It has also made shopping a breeze. Wearing the baby leaves the basket and seat open for either merchendise, or my other boys. I can't say enough good things about the moby wrap. |
BEST Baby Carrier

We had a trip to England with our 2 youngs children (5-months and 20-months). We took a McLaren stroller for the older child and this for the youngest. My wife loved this - it supported her back well, felt comfortable, and allowed her a full range of motion (climbed the 100 steps in Whitby with no problems). It was cold when we were there, and the extra body heat from mom-to-baby was great. There are NO metal clasps on this, so she could "wear" the baby straight through the metal detectors at the airports and security checkpoints at the palace, etc.
I won't lie - men shouldn't wear this. Men look dumb wearing any baby carrier, and this is no exception. Please, please, please - wives of the world, just let your husband carry the baby. It might be easier to wear this, but it is not worth the embarasment!
Regardless, this is the BEST carrier/sling/etc available. We've bought just about every one of them out there - front loaders, back packs, slings. None are even comparable. |
