Very versatile and comfortable baby carrier

This is my third sling, and I really like it. My other two are both pouch slings: a Hotsling and an adjustable Mayawrap pouch sling. You can't beat a pouch slings for pure simplicity of use. However, I think the Baby Ktan baby carrier is quickly becoming my favorite. It is essentially two pouch slings tied together, plus a sash to use as extra support for some of the positions. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: Very versatile -- wear your baby like you would in a regular pouch sling, or wear her facing forward or backward like you would in a Baby Bjorn. There are also hip carry and back carry positions -- 8 positions in all. Very comfortable -- the stretch cotton is wonderfully soft and in nearly all the positions, you can have the carrier go over both shoulders. This was a big selling point for me because I find that my back aches after about an hour or so in a regular pouch sling. In the Baby Ktan, with both shoulders carrying the load, it's much easier. Packable -- much less bulk than a Baby Bjorn or other structured/padded carrier; about the size of two pouch slings. Large weight range -- I can also put my 30 lb. toddler in the hip carry position with this thing. Machine wash, tumble dry.
Cons: A little bit of a learning curve and not quite as quick and easy to use as a pouch sling. Takes up about twice as much room as a pouch sling in the diaper bag.
One buying tip: Pay close attention to the sizing recommendations, and if you are at all in between sizes, get the smaller one. The material is quite stretchy. I bought a small to begin with, but returned it for an extra small, which fits me better. I'm 5'4" and average weight. |
Best carrier out there!!

| This is the best carrier that I've tried! I used to have a sling (too hard on the shoulders), a wrap ( great, but putting it on is annoyig, especially when a crying baby is waiting, this carrier has the same benefits without the hassle), and the baby biorn (kills the shoulders over a short period, and not the same closeness with your baby). Its sooo easy and fast to put on, very comfortable, has optional tie for extra support (for heavier babies/toddlers). Great for nursing, and keeping your hands free- no one can even tell, especially if you have a nursing shirt on too! So versatile, i use it for my newborn, and my toddler- lots of differet positions... I wouldnt be able to function without it- whe running errrands use this instead of carts or carseats, baby wil be happier for much lomger, which makes it easier for you!! |

| This is a fabulous baby carrier. My baby and I love it. Tried lots of others - wraps, a regular sling, the forward facing carriers - but the Baby K'tan is the best. Very cool design - like two slings together. It is very easy to use, many carrying positions (8), can nurse my baby in it privately, very soft comfortable material, and it is comfortable on my back (it has a back support band that slides up and down) and it rests on both of my shoulders so much more supportive than a regular sling. |
Amazing Carrier - Doesn't Get Much Better

Hi,
I have tried dozens of different carriers, and the Baby K'tan is one of my favorites. I owned a wrap style carrier for quite awhile and loved how it distributed the weight of my heavy little guy. The only downside to the wrap was, well, wrapping. It wasn't very convenient to use when I was on the go. The Baby K'tan is awesome. Easy to put on, easy to get the baby into. It does a pretty good job of distributing the weight - much better then the standard carriers out there!!!! My baby loves it too. He even fell asleep in it when we were shopping the other day.
My only complaint - if you could even call it that - is that the size that fits me doesn't fit my husband. Other then that, this is fantastic and I would highly recommend it, especially to those who have back problems and standard carriers don't work. |
